Bible Study: 1 Peter

Bishop Michael Marshall in his book Flame in the Mind writes, “The problem for the church in every age is to find a sufficient supply of men and women who know the content of the Christian faith and who are able to communicate it in user-friendly language and in a manner that is accessible to a particular generation and culture.” The Bible study on 1 Peter will provide just that. Many of the great fundamental Christian ideas and conceptions meet and come together in this Letter, such as faith, hope, joy, holiness, obedience, humility, and loving one another, all of which should be a part of the Christ-filled life. Julian Stead OSB, in his book St. Benedict, states that “The First Letter of Peter is clearly the source for Benedict’s teaching on humility, love for the brethren and obedience.” You are invited to join with others and enrich your spiritual life so that you may communicate it to others. Classes will be held on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., starting on September 15 and run until November 17, 2009. For more information, contact jeanlitwin@verizon.net.
