Children & Youth Formation
St. Paul's gives Christian Formation to our youngest parishioners from age 3 through 12th grade. If you have questions about Children's Christian Formation at St. Paul's please contact Fr. Nathan Humphrey at Humphrey@StPauls-KSt.com or at 202-337-2020 ext. 11.
Infants and Toddlers: the nursery is staffed and open from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Sunday, and during special services on weekday evenings. The nursery is located on the first floor of Pillsbury House.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori approach to spiritual development and growth for young people. Every Sunday during the school year we meet upstairs in Pillsbury House after 9:00 mass for a snack and then proceed down to the three groups on the lower level:
- CGS I: 3 - 5 years (must be toilet trained)
- CGS II: Children in grades 1 to 3
- CGS III: Children in grades 4 to 5
Journey Through Scripture: The JTS group, for children in grades 6 to 8, follows the same liturgical themes found in the Sunday mass, concentrating on the day's scripture readings. The group meets after the 9:00 Mass every Sunday in the classroom in the Undercroft. For more information contact David Schnorrenberg at dschnorrenberg@crowell.com.
Ponticus Group: Click to Enlarge (Photo: Kate Eikel) High School: Ponticus is the high school Christian formation group. Its goal is to increase knowledge and love of Christ through shared experiences, learning, and having fun together. Past classes have focused upon an overview of Christian faith and church history, as well as looking at contemporary issues from a Christian perspective. This year we will be focusing on the New Testament. Ponticus meets at 10:15 a.m. every Sunday in the Undercroft Youth Room. For more information, email ponticus@stpauls-kst.com.
CGS, Middle School, and Ponticus all meet from September through Pentecost before breaking for the summer.
