The Reverend Father Andrew L. Sloane, Rector Before coming to St. Paul’s, Fr. Sloane had been the rector of Grace Church, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where he served for nine years. Prior to that time he was curate at St. Mary the Virgin in New York City and at St. George’s, Schenectady, New York. Born in England, he holds degrees from Oxford University and Nashotah House Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood by the Bishop of Albany for the Archbishop of Canterbury. He began his ministry at St. Paul’s on February 22, 1998, and was formally installed as rector on May 3, 1998. Fr. Sloane is a member of the National Council of the American Branch of The Guild of All Souls, and a Guardian of the Holy House at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. In May 2005, Fr. The Reverend Father Nathan J. A. Humphrey, Curate Fr. Humphrey began his curacy at St. Paul's on October 15, 2005. He previously served as curate at Saint James Parish and Academy, Monkton, Maryland, and taught in their day school. Before his ordination, he served as chaplain and religion teacher at Washington Episcopal School in Bethesda, Maryland. He grew up in Southern California and came to Maryland in the early 1990s to attend St. John's College in Annapolis. While in college, Father attended St. Anne's, the church in Church Circle, Annapolis, but was directed to our parish to make his first confession. The Reverend Father Perrin Radley, Honorary Assistant Clergy Fr. Radley was born in Washington, D.C., baptized in the old St. Paul’s, and present at the groundbreaking for the present church. He was a chorister during the time of Douglas Birchby and was confirmed at St. Paul’s by Bishop Angus Dun. Fr. Radley was educated at Kenyon College, the Universities of Cambridge and Birmingham (England), The Queen’s Theological College (Birmingham, England), and the Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was ordained a deacon from St. Paul’s in 1968, and Fr. Richards was present at his ordination to the priesthood in 1969. Fr. Radley has served parishes in New England and in Vienna, Austria. In 1999, Fr. Radley retired from parish ministry to turn to other priestly interests and responsibilities, and he now lives with his wife, Laurel, an occupational therapist, in Washington, in the house in which he grew up. The Reverend Doctor Father Lloyd Alexander Lewis, Honorary Assistant Clergy Fr. Lewis is Professor of New Testament Languages and Literature at Virginia Theological Seminary and a Priest of the Diocese of Long Island. Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, he is a graduate of Trinity College, Hartford and Virginia Theological Seminary. During his time in Seminary he was Seminarian Assistant here at St. Paul’s. Dr. Lewis holds a doctorate in New Testament from Yale University, has been a Visiting Professor at the General Theological Seminary, and has served as an assistant in parishes in New York, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C. For nine years he was Dean of the George Mercer School of Theology in Garden City, N.Y., and is one of two Canons Theologian to the Bishop of Long Island. Fr. Lewis appreciates the importance of St. Paul’s as a place where individuals can be formed for mission and ministry, both lay and ordained. The Reverend Doctor Father Randall Lee McQuin, Honorary Assistant Clergy Fr. McQuin is a Director of Advanced Planning for AXA Advisors, LLC, a financial services company and a Priest of the Diocese of Kansas. A native Kansan, he is a graduate of the University of Kansas, the University of Kansas School of Law, and Yale Divinity School. After serving as a parish priest and diocesan vice chancellor in the Dioceses of Western Kansas and Kansas, Fr. McQuin came to Washington, D.C., in the 1980s to work at Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Robert McCormick, Director of Music Robert McCormick, a native of Macon, Georgia, is director of music at St. Paul’s Parish, K Street, Washington, D.C. At St. Paul’s he holds primary responsibility for conducting the semi-professional parish choir, the choir of men and boys, and a girls’ choir. Prior to this position, he served for seven years as organist and music director at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, New York City, one of this country’s most celebrated Anglo-Catholic parishes. At St. Mary’s he administered a busy liturgical music program, including conducting one of the city’s most highly regarded professional choirs, a choir of volunteers, oversaw a weekly organ recital series, and played the historic four-manual, 91-rank Aeolian-Skinner organ. He assumed this prominent position at the age of twenty-two. He holds the Bachelor of Music degree in organ performance, summa cum laude, from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey, where he studied with Robert Carwithen. While at Westminster, Mr. McCormick was assistant organist at Trinity Church, Princeton. There he accompanied the choir in a tour of English Cathedrals and on a professional recording of music by William Harris and Herbert Howells. Mr. McCormick has received numerous awards and scholarships including the Peter B. Knock award and, from Westminster, the Donald McDonald award and the Andrew Rider award for high academic standing. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, the national music honor society. Mr. McCormick is known for his ability in organ improvisation, which he uses weekly in a liturgical setting. He was named a semi-finalist in the St. Albans International Organ Festival Improvisation Competition, held in July 2005. A frequent concert artist, recent appearances include the Basically Bach Festival at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in New York City, the Great Organists series at St. John’s Cathedral in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a recital for the New York City Pipe Organ Encounters, and recitals and workshops for American Guild of Organists chapters in Northern Virginia and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. John Bradford Bohl, Assistant Music Director John Bradford Bohl, a native of Flint, Michigan, began studying piano at age six, and organ at age ten, and held his first position as organist at the age of twelve. Mr. Bohl studied organ with Dr. Marilyn Keiser and voice with tenor Paul Elliott at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. He previously held the position of Assistant Organist and Choirmaster at Old Saint Paul’s Church in Baltimore, MD, (2005-2007) where he assisted in the training of the boy and girl choristers, the Choir of Men & Women, and the Vespers’ Schola. In addition to his duties at St. Paul’s, K Street, Mr. Bohl also serves as Accompanist and Chapel Organist at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. Mr. Bohl is also active as a vocalist in the Washington, DC area, and abroad. He currently sings with the Countertop Quartet, the Washington Bach Consort, Chantry, and the Choirs of the Washington National Cathedral. He has also sung with the Holy Trinity Bach Choir (NYC), Pro Arte Singers (Bloomington, IN), and the Festival Ensemble Stuttgart, conducted by Bach scholar Helmuth Rilling. Mr. Bohl has been soloist with numerous ensembles in the United States, including singing Bernstein’s Missa Brevis and Chichester Psalms with the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, Bach’s B-minor Mass with the Trinity Choir in Worcester, MA, and most recently Handel’s Messiah as part of the Abendmusik series at Plymouth UCC in Lincoln, NE. Ms. Melva Willis, Parish Administrator Ms. Willis is a native of the Washington metro area. During her career she has held administrative positions with law firms, contractors, educational institutions, and telecommunications companies. Ms. Willis lives in Dumfries, Virginia, with her husband, Carl, who works for TWA at Reagan Washington National Airport. They have two grown daughters, Shalane and Stephanie and two grandchildren, Ramie and Carl. Mr Robert J. Motes, Honorary Assistant Director of Music Mr Motes, born in southern West Virginia, has lived nearly all of his life in the Washington, DC area. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from The Catholic University of America, where he studied organ with William Watkins. He began his career in church music at Christ Church Parish, Kensington, Maryland, spending eleven years as Director of Music. It was during this time that Mr Motes began his relationship with St. Paul’s, assisting J. Marcus Ritchie at Evensong and Benediction, and later substituting for Jeffrey Smith. More recently he served for seven years as Organist and Choirmaster at St. Andrew’s Church, Arlington, Virginia, where he directed all aspects of the music program, including monthly Choral Evensong. Currently, Mr Motes sings tenor in the Parish Choir and assists Dr Brightwell and Mr Bohl. When not pursuing his musical interests, he is a Principal at IMC, Inc., a Reston, Virginia-based Information Technology consulting firm.

David B. J. Chase, Ph.D., Director of Christian Formation Dr. Chase is a native of the Washington, D.C., area. He is a career educator of more that thirty years in the Montgomery County, Maryland, Public Schools. Dr. Chase holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy, Planning, and Administration. He has been a parishioner since 1968, having served several terms on the Vestry, and is active in the acolyte corps. Dr. Chase has taught children’s/youth formation groups and assisted with several parish capital campaigns. Edie Davis, Parish Catechist Mrs. Davis is a cradle Episcopalian who has lived in the Washington area since 1968. She has a bachelor’s degree in history, experience in classroom teaching and parish administration, six years of EFM (Education for Ministry), and training in the catechumenate. She is a lay associate of the Community of St Mary (Greenwich, NY). A member of St Paul’s since 1982, her primary parish ministries have been in adult formation, altar guild, and hospital visitation, and she has led the Pilgrims in Christ catechumenate with Fr Sloane since 1998.
