Commitment Prayers

The theme of the parish’s 2010 Call to Commitment is “Tell Out, My soul!” (Hymn #438, a metrical setting of the Magnificat), and its objective is parish transformation as evidenced in part by an outpouring of joyous generosity.

This is a particularly appropriate time to remember the immensity of the power of prayer. We offer the following prayer to be used during October in private devotions as well as wherever liturgically appropriate in public worship:

Lord Jesus, walk with us on our journey of faith as thou didst walk with thy disciples. Open our hearts to thy presence, thy sacrifice, and the astounding abundance of thy love. As we meet thee in the breaking of the bread, help us to allow a generosity born of that love to flow from us as freely as the blood and water from thy wounded side. And as we go forth nourished and transformed, may we always sing with thy Blessed Mother, “My soul doth magnify the Lord!” Amen.

In addition, we recommend a renewed intention to include the prayer for the parish in daily devotions as well:

Heavenly Father, pour down Thy Holy Spirit upon St. Paul’s Parish Church, and grant us a new vision of Thy glory, a new experience of Thy power, a new faithfulness to Thy word, a new consecration to Thy service, that through our renewed witness Thy Holy Name may be glorified, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

At Shrine Prayers and liturgical Intercessions:

Please pray for the continuing transformation of this parish by the power of the Spirit through an outpouring of joyous generosity.
