Morning and Evening Prayer are offered daily at St. Paul’s. These services include prayers, readings from the Psalms and the Holy Scriptures, one or more canticles, and the Lord’s Prayer. These services are rooted in the monastic cycle of daily prayer that developed in the 4th century, and received their moden form from Archbishop Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556). Cranmer reduced the eight monastic offices to the two services of Morning and Evening Prayer, whcih were printed in vernacular English and intended for use by all members of the church.
