Stewardship

1 October 2006

Dear parishioners and friends of St. Paul’s:

Today we celebrated the Feast of the Dedication of the Church and began our annual stewardship campaign to support the mission and ministries of St. Paul’s Parish.  We offered prayers of thanksgiving for the past blessing the Parish has received and now we must recommit ourselves to continuing to build the Parish’s future mission and ministry.

$825,000 is the pledge target for this year. This target is a modest growth of approximately 3% over last year’s total pledge commitment of approximately $800,000.

The Vestry believes the growth is necessary to meet the level of ministry that the Parish community deserves and has come to expect.  The Vestry also believes that the growth is achievable.  The Vestry will set the 2007 budget in December based on the pledges received during the pledge drive this October and November.  The Parish needs our support.

Thank you for your past generosity, enabling the Parish to meet its operating budget and fulfill our mission and ministry commitments.  The Parish depends on pledges to make its annual operating budget, which ensures that the clergy and staff are paid; the building, organ and physical plant are maintained; and the Parish ministries and mission are supported.  Through your continued support and generosity, St. Paul’s will continue to grow in mission and ministry.

For some, prayerful discernment will lead to a clear decision to make a Biblical tithe—which the Episcopal Church continues to teach as the minimum standard—or to move in that direction by pledging a percentage of their income.  Others may decide to pledge a specific sum of money.  If you are not able to tithe, we would encourage you to consider increasing your pledge from last year by 5% or more.  Increased pledges and increased numbers of pledgers are the surest ways to guarantee the continued growth of the Parish’s mission and ministries.  Please complete the pledge card that was mailed to you or download the pledge form below.

We hope that the hearts of all will be led to some form of joyful, thankful commitment.  Please pledge.

In the love of Christ,
The Rev’d Andrew L. Sloane   Matthew S. Leddicotte  David M. Schnorrenberg Rector                               Co-Chair, Stewardship   Co-Chair, Stewardship
